Brookville. 9,000 students.

On it’s highly picturesque campus in a wealthy enclave of Long Island’s north shore, C.W. Post offers more than 250 degree programs. Degrees are available in everything from Accounting to Taxation, Chemistry, Childhood Education, Criminal Justice and Writing. The school’s music and dance programs benefit from the on-campus Tilles Center, a music hall that rivals the very best New York performance venues.

Hofstra University

Hempstead. 12,000 students.

Hofstra’s location in Hempstead Long Island isn’t perhaps the most scenic spot on earth, but the it offers a good education for lots of kids on the region. The school likes to promote it’s proximity to New York City as a major benefit. Hofstra offers more than 150 undergraduate programs and over 160 graduate degrees. Subjects run across the full spectrum of what you would expect from a good sized university: *Liberal Arts & Sciences, Business, Communication, Education and Health. There is also a Law school.

Rockville Centre. 4,000 students.

This 50 year-old private school in the leafy suburb of Rockville Centre offers a broad selection of bachelor and masters degree programs in Allied Health Services, Biology, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Music and Communications. The school has a Global Learning program that takes students to study in many different locations in Europe and China. Tuition is on the low side for a private school. Located in a glorious old estate complex in Glen Cove on Long Island’s north shore, Webb is, as the name implies, a school for students who are highly focused on *

Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering*
(a double major in those two subjects is the only degree program offered here). The select student body all gets free tuition, though there are charges for room and board. Clearly a unique institution.
